SELF-TALK includes all the thoughts in your mind.
SELF-TALK CAN BE RANDOM OR PURPOSEFUL.
IT CAN BE SILENT OR SPOKEN OUT-LOUD.
CATEGORIES OF SELF-TALK:
Negative Self-Talk:

Negative and critical

People use negative self-talk without realizing it.

Inconsistency and poor performances lead to negative self-talk.

Example: "I CANT" or

Positive Self-Talk:

Encouraging and Motivational

Keeps it REAL tells you exactly what you need to do and where to FOCUS.

Example: "That was a tough move!"
Neutral Self-Talk:

Thoughts that are completely random and have nothing to do with sports or performing.

Example: "What will I have for dinner tonight?"
Intructional Self-Talk:

Connects to positive self-talk

Uses instructions as part of the talk to maintain focus

Example: "Break the wrist and follow through"
